Terms and Conditions


At the time of booking, a deposit of 10% is required. This amount will be deducted from the total hire charge.   The remaining balance will be due 4 weeks prior to departure.  In the event of cancellation this deposit is non-refundable.  However, if the UK & Ireland Government place travel restrictions due to Covid 19 which does not allow travel, then a full refund will be made.

A booking confirmation and invoice will be sent to the hirer reflecting balances paid and balances due.

Minimum Hire

Minimum hire of Campervan is 7 nights up to 4 weeks.


A Scottish Adventure Campers authorises the use of this vehicle up to 4 passengers including the Driver. Each person to use the safety restraints provided at all times whilst vehicle is in motion.


Included in the price of hire is full comprehensive insurance under  A SCOTTISH ADVENTURE, covering the Campervan and its equipment only.  Equipment excludes the hire of any optional extras.


A refundable security deposit of £750 to cover Campervan Insurance Excess applies to all our Peugeot Boxer Campervan hires. This excess is for drivers aged 25-75 inclusive. All funds must be cleared 4 weeks before the time of hire, otherwise could result in loss of deposit and cancellation of hire.    I irrevocably authorise A Scottish Adventure to deduct from the security deposit any amounts due by me to A Scottish Adventure arising out of this agreement.


The insurance is only valid for the period of hire. The period of hire is from the collection date and time to the specified return date and time. Any late return or driving by non-named drivers would invalidate the insurance and constitute a traffic offence under the Road Traffic Act in which the driver may be liable to prosecution. The hirer and any driver will also be personally liable for any damage to the campervan, any personal injuries, third party property damage, third party injuries and other related liabilities after the insurance expiry date and time.


It is the driver’s responsibility to provide full information on any driving convictions or health restrictions. Please note there may be insurance surcharges dependant on any of the above being applicable. Please also note that the insurance policy will be invalidated if the hirer or any driver misrepresents or withholds driving conviction or health restriction information. Should an insurance policy become invalidated for any reason, “A Scottish Adventure” (also known as the “company’s” throughout this document) will hold the hirer responsible for all fines, losses, damages and other costs.

  • The Hirer shall be responsible for any and all of the Company’s uninsured losses, which may arise as a result of the hire.  This will include:  The theft of "A Scottish Adventure" campervan will not be covered by insurance if the ignition keys are left in or on the vehicle whilst unoccupied and the hirer shall be held fully responsible for a replacement vehicle. Insurance does not cover or include the hirers’ personal belongings.

  • Fire damage caused by cooking will not be covered and the hirer shall be held fully responsible for any damage to the vehicle or if not repairable a replacement vehicle.

  • The insurance security deposit will be returned to the hirer within 14 days after the end of the hire period providing that hirer(s) return the campervan under the following conditions:

  • Clean,

  • Undamaged,

  • With all tyres, tools, accessories and equipment in the same condition as when received,

  • Returned to the place and on the date and time specified, or sooner if demanded by The Company and

  • Returned having used campervan in a reasonable manner. (See Campervan Use.)



All cancellations must be submitted in writing. It is strongly advised that hirers take out their own insurance against any unavoidable cancellation.

The following fees apply in the event of cancellation prior to the hire date.

  • More than six weeks before start of hire – loss of deposit

  • Less than 4 weeks before start of hire-100% of total hire charge




  • All payments for the hire should be made by the main driver.



  • Must have held a full licence for a minimum of 2 years.

  • Must be between the ages of 25 and 75.

  • Must not have had their licence suspended for any period within the last three years.

  • Must not have been involved in more than one fault incident within the last 3 years.

  • Must not have obtained a BA, DD or UT conviction.

  • Has no more that two convictions with a maximum of 3 points per conviction.

  • All drivers must be present at time of collection and produce a: 

  • photo driving licence

  • UK residents a “check code” from the DVLA sharing your driving record 


You also need to provide TWO forms of address ID, we can only take ID from the following list:-

  • Bank Statement

  • Credit Card Statement

  • Utility Bill - Gas, Electric, water or Telephone (not mobile)

  • Council Tax Bill (this needs to be the current years bill dated within the last 3 months)


  • Visitors from abroad must produce a valid endorsed domestic driving licence or international driving licence as well as a passport.

  • In addition to the driver’s licence requirements, one other form of identity, such as a utility bill or a bank building society statement dated within the last three months, is required.

  • Licence offences must meet the driver eligibility requirements of the insurance company.

  • Only named drivers that have met the insurance company eligibility requirements are permitted to drive the campervan.

  • The hirer/named driver shall be liable for all costs and expenses incurred for speeding, parking fines, congestion charges. This includes any other offences committed against the Road Traffic Act or traffic regulations and indemnifies the Company from any liability.


Fuel, Gas and Daily Campervan Maintenance

  • Fuel is at your expense. The campervan will be provided with a full tank of fuel when it is collected. The campervan must be returned with a full tank of fuel. If the campervan is not returned with a full tank of fuel, a charge for the amount in pounds (£) required to bring the tank to full will be made to the hirer, with a surcharge of £25 above the cost of refuelling.

  • There is a LPG gas tank which has a connection on the outside of the campervan.  This can be refilled at some Petrol Stations.  We will provide the canister full and you must refill prior to returning the campervan.

  • The responsibility of checking oil/water levels on a daily basis in the engine and other necessary campervan components, such as checking tyre pressure, are the responsibility of the hirer while on hire.

  • Full cost in repairing damage to the engine will be charged to the hirer should the incorrect fuel be used to fill the fuel tank.


Breakdowns and Accidents

  • Seatbelts must be worn by all passengers. This is the hirer’s responsibility.

  • The Company will not be responsible for any third-party damages or claims in connection with or as a consequence to any accident or breakdown.

  • Should a breakdown or accident occur, The Company will not be held responsible for any hotel, replacement vehicle or consequential expenses connected to breakdowns or accidents.

  • Great effort is made to ensure the hire campervan is in a roadworthy and safe condition before hire commencement. The Company shall not be liable for any consequences arising from any defects or mechanical failure of the campervan although all reasonable precautions have been taken to prevent such happenings.


Breakdowns – Specifics

  • 24hr breakdown coverage provided.

  • The hirer may authorise repairs and replacements up to £50 and will be reimbursed on supply of a valid receipt.

  • The hirer must obtain permission from The Company for repair and replacement costs above £50.


Accident – Specifics

  • Should the campervan be involved in an accident, however small, the full details must be  filled out on an Accident Report form

  • A diagram should be drawn. There is space on the back of the Accident Report for a diagram to be drawn.

  • Hirer participates as an insured under a comprehensive campervan insurance policy. Hirer agrees further to protect the interest of “A Scottish Adventure” and the insurance company in the event of accident during the hire term by:

  • Notifying the police immediately if there is property damage if people are injured and in order to determine fault for insurance purposes.

  • Not admitting guilt or liability.

  • Obtain names and address of parties involved and witnesses.

  • Assist A Scottish Adventure in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending court to give evidence.

  • Not abandoning the campervan without adequate provisions for safely guarding and securing same.

  • Notifying “A Scottish Adventure” immediately, of any loss or damage occurring to campervan, and of any fault. Please indicate if the campervan is not roadworthy or is liable to cause danger to any person or property.

  • The Hirer will have to pay an excess for any damage. The insurance excess is £750 as agreed and paid. Please note that resolution of damage issues is time consuming to resolve and we reserve the right to charge an administration fee in addition to the repair cost.

  • The Hirer acknowledges that the excess or other amount due by me in respect of any damage arising from an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the completion of the rental period.

  • The campervan should not be used until damage has been repaired, corrected and fault determined.


Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Campervan, even with the windows open. Any infringement of this rule will incur a minimum charge of £300.


Campervan Use

   The Campervan shall not be used:

  • For hires for reward.

  • Knowingly for any illegal purpose.

  • To propel or tow any other campervan or trailer.

  • For racing, pace making, reliability trials, speed testing or driver tuition.

  • To carry a greater number of passengers and/or more baggage than recommended by the campervan manufacturer.

  • By any person who has given a fictitious or false name.

  • By any person other than the hirer who signed the rental agreement or who have been named as a driver and approved by “A Scottish Adventure”, or by a motor campervan repairer in the event of an accident or breakdown.

  • By any person who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • For travel to music festivals or unauthorised sports events.

  • On any unsealed roads or unauthorised roads, in forbidden or restricted areas or on beaches or in salt water.

  • Outside Scotland, England or Wales.


    Campervan Keys and Control

  • The hirer is required to keep the campervan under their control throughout the hire period.

  • The campervan must be locked at all times when unattended.



Rental and Other Charges

  I will pay A Scottish Adventure:

  • all rental charges

  • the security deposit.

  • the nominated cancellation fee in the event of cancellation of this agreement prior to acceptance of delivery of the vehicle

  • the cost of any damage to the vehicle or the property of any third party, subject to the insurance*

  • all government fees and duties etc

  • all parking fines, other fines or penalties, and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle; and associated administration costs incurred in relation to the vehicle during the rental period.

  • any other fees or charges payable by me pursuant to this agreement. *

  • the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs*

  • the cost to recover a vehicle which has become bogged.*

*This cost is up to the insurance excess amount provided all Terms and Conditions are adhered to. If the insurance deems the insurance to be invalid due to inappropriate use of the vehicle and there has been a breach by the hirer of the terms of this agreement, then the hirer will be liable for all costs.


Collection And Return

  • Collection:  2pm

  • Return:       10am  

Please allow up to half an hour on the return of your vehicle to hand over and check the condition of the vehicle. 

  • Campervans will not be available for collection or return at any other time unless agreed by A Scottish Adventure. Failure to comply with the return time will result in the hirer being surcharged at the rate of £50 per hour, or any part thereof, for the first 3 hours and the balance of the deposit thereafter, together with any additional costs incurred by The Company.

  • There is no refund for early return.

  • The hirer acknowledges delivery of the campervan and the contents free from any defect or damage and complete other than as specified by the Company. The hirer is advised to check the campervan thoroughly before leaving the Company’s premises. Upon return the condition of the campervan will be checked for damage, cleanliness, fuel levels, tyres, any hired options, conditions that affect the security insurance deposit and other general conditions.

  • The security deposit will be returned to you within 14 days after the end of the hire period provided the campervan is returned to us in a satisfactory condition and at the location and date and time agreed. Satisfactory condition includes clean, undamaged, with all tools, accessories and equipment in the same condition as when collected and having been operated in a reasonable manner (see ‘Campervan Use’).


  • An additional charge of £30 will be made if the Campervan is not returned clean and tidy.

  • Portaloo not emptied and clean £50



  • No generators are allowed.

  • The campervan must be returned with a full tank of fuel and LPG – charges apply otherwise – see 7

  • The hirer is liable for all overhead damage to the vehicle resulting from any accident. The maximum height and length of the campervan is clearly stated.

  • All incidents related to tyres including punctures are the hirer’s responsibility.

  • Responsibility for damage to the load in the van while the van is out on hire lies with the hirer/driver.

  • Personal possessions are not covered. The Company shall not be liable for loss or damage to any property left, stored or transported by hirer or any other person in campervan either before or after the return to “A Scottish Adventure” . Hirer hereby agrees to hold The Company harmless from and indemnify “A Scottish Adventure” against all claims based upon or arising out of such loss of damage.

  • Hirers are strongly advised to take out holiday insurance.

  • In the event that charges, including damage repair and replacement, exceed the level of security deposit paid, you will be charged any additional sum to cover this excess and that sum will be due immediately at the end of the hire.


Weather Conditions

“A Scottish Adventure” cannot be held responsible in the event of any damage or inconvenience caused by inclement weather.  A Scottish Adventure reserves the right at any time, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions or any other reasonable cause.



All effort is made to ensure that the reserved campervan, or a suitable replacement, is available. However, if circumstances beyond our control prevent The Company from honouring a reservation, “A Scottish Adventure” in no way be held responsible and all payments which have been made to The Company will be refunded pro rata.

Payment of charges joint and several liability

All charges and expenses payable by me under this agreement are due on demand by A Scottish Adventure. If I do not pay all charges when due, I agree to pay a late charge of 1.5% per week on the outstanding balance and any collection costs incurred by A Scottish Adventure, including reasonable legal fees. When the customer comprises of more than one person, each person is liable jointly and severally for all obligations of the customer pursuant to this agreement.


Title to vehicle

I acknowledge that A Scottish Adventure retains title to the vehicle and that I possess the goods as a mere bailee only. I do not have any right to pledge A Scottish Adventure credit in connection with the vehicle and agree not to do so. I shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the vehicle.


Alterations to the vehicle

I shall not make any alterations or additions to the vehicle without the prior written consent of A Scottish Adventure


Changes In Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to alter the rates and conditions at any time. We also reserve the right to refuse or cancel hire to any person without warning or explanation. Additions to or alterations of the terms of this agreement shall be null and void unless agreed upon in writing by all concerned parties.


Ending the Agreement

We will end this agreement immediately and repossess the vehicle if we find out that your belongings have been taken away from you to pay off your debts, or a receiving order has been made against you. We will also end this agreement and repossess the vehicle if you do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement or have obtained the vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation, or the vehicle appears to be abandoned.


If you are a company, we will also end this agreement immediately and repossess the vehicle if you go into liquidation or you call a meeting of creditors.


If we end this agreement, it will not affect our right to receive any money we are owed under the conditions of this agreement.

Governing Law

This Agreement is covered by the laws of Scotland. Any dispute may be settled in the courts of that country.

I acknowledge all the details I have given are to the best of my knowledge, truthful and accurate and I agree to be bound by A Scottish Adventure's Terms and Conditions/Rental Agreement and I have read the T&C/Rental Agreement as published above.
